Why AutosPanama?

AutosPanama was built to be different from traditional car dealers and rental car companies.

We are a small, independent automotive business based in Pedasí and Playa Venao. We believe that being flexible, practical, and straightforward matters more than operating like a large corporate dealership.

We live here. We work here. Our customers are often our neighbors, friends, and people we see again and again in the same small community. That matters.

A Lifetime in the Automotive Business

AutosPanama was founded by Jason Mattia, who has worked in the automotive industry since his early twenties.

His background includes decades of experience in the United States automotive business, including ownership of multiple new-car franchises, vehicle sales, dealership operations, and the many different parts of the business involved in buying, selling, servicing, and managing vehicles.

That experience now combines with almost ten years of living and doing business in Panama.

Understanding cars is only part of the job. Understanding how the automotive business works in Panama—the market, roads, parts availability, repair options, paperwork, insurance, and which vehicles make sense to own here—is equally important.

A Family Business with Local Roots

AutosPanama is very much a family business.

Jason's wife, Karina, is from Panama City and is an integral part of the company. She speaks three languages and brings a strong understanding of Panama, its people, and the way business is done here.

Together, Jason and Karina help bridge the gap between international customers who may be new to Panama and the realities of buying, owning, renting, or maintaining a vehicle locally.

Experience Across the Team

AutosPanama is not just one person.

Our team brings together experience in vehicle sales, rentals, customer service, vehicle sourcing, inspections, storage, and automotive service.

We also have two mechanics on our team, including one whose strengths focus on electrical and electronic work.

That combination allows us to handle a wide range of practical automotive needs while recognizing when a job should be referred to a specialist.

We do not pretend to know everything. If something is outside our expertise, we would rather say so than give someone bad advice.

Integrity Matters in a Small Community

Pedasí and Playa Venao are small communities. Reputation matters.

We want customers to feel comfortable returning to us, recommending us to their friends, and seeing us around town after a transaction is finished.

That means doing the right thing, communicating clearly, and being honest when something does not make sense.

Sometimes that means telling a customer not to buy a particular car. Sometimes it means saying a repair should be done elsewhere. Sometimes it means recommending a less expensive option because it makes more sense.

We would rather build a long-term relationship than make a short-term sale.

The Anti-Car Dealer

We sometimes describe AutosPanama as the anti-car dealer.

That does not mean we are against car dealers. It means we try not to behave like the stereotype.

We do not believe every customer needs to be pushed into a transaction. We do not want complicated sales processes, unnecessary pressure, or a one-size-fits-all approach.

We try to keep things simple:

The Anti-Rental Car Company

We take the same approach to vehicle rentals.

AutosPanama is not a large airport rental company with thousands of vehicles, rigid procedures, and layers of corporate rules.

We are local. That allows us to be more flexible about pickup locations, delivery, customer needs, longer rentals, unusual situations, and the realities of traveling or living in this part of Panama.

We know many of our customers personally, and a large part of our business comes from repeat customers and referrals.

Why Panama Experience Matters

Buying, owning, and maintaining a vehicle in Panama can be very different from doing the same thing in North America or Europe.

Not every make or model that works well elsewhere is a good choice here.

Parts availability, parts cost, access to trained technicians, road conditions, insurance, and resale demand can all make a major difference.

Years of living and operating an automotive business in Panama have taught us that the right vehicle is not always the most expensive, newest, or most impressive one.

Often, the best vehicle is the one that can be maintained properly, repaired reasonably, and supported locally.

Part of the Community

We believe a local business should contribute to the community that supports it.

AutosPanama tries to participate in and support local events, organizations, and community activities whenever we can.

That can mean helping local festivals and events with transportation or vehicles, supporting community organizations and environmental initiatives such as local sea-turtle conservation efforts, and finding practical ways to contribute when local groups need help.

We do not do these things for advertising. We do them because this is our home too, and we want to help make the community stronger.

A Different Way of Doing Business

We are not trying to become the biggest automotive company in Panama.

We are trying to build a good business that serves our customers well, supports our community, treats people fairly, and continues to earn its reputation over time.
